Understanding Suicidality
The majority of people who experience suicidal thoughts don't truly want to die; they simply want an end to their daily suffering. Just like physical pain, intense psychological pain can lead individuals to seek an escape.
Suicidal thoughts can affect people of all ages and backgrounds. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide is a significant public health concern, with approximately 12.6 million adults reporting serious thoughts of suicide each year.
Sometimes our darkest days shine light on our brightest future.
My Approach
In our work together, we'll use brief cognitive behavioral therapy (BCBT) and mindfulness-based interventions to help you gain insight and confidence in navigating your world. You'll develop a clearer understanding of your situation by exploring your narrative and identifying the suicidal mode that highlights vulnerabilities contributing to triggers and cycles of unhelpful thoughts, emotions, and behaviors leading to a crisis.
I recognize the complexities of suicidal behavior and believe wholeheartedly that you don’t have to remain trapped in your current cycle. My approach involves understanding the science behind our natural survival instincts and how they can sometimes become obstacles. We will focus on identifying and developing effective coping strategies to manage suicidal thoughts and regain control over your life.
In sessions, you'll have the chance to practice and troubleshoot these strategies, building confidence in applying them between sessions. Ultimately, you deserve a life worth living, and together, we'll explore your values and goals to align them with a more fulfilling and meaningful existence.
Taking Suicidality Seriously
Suicidal thoughts and behaviors are serious, and in some cases, hospitalization may be necessary. However, in my experience, most clients can be effectively managed with a personalized plan that minimizes disruption to work, school, and family life. You don't have to face this alone.
